Those crazy French! Who else could conceive of a Terminator/gaming-machine hybrid based on a cheesy old Jodie Foster film? Well, in the words of our last modder, "I wanted to create a new style of MOD, more modern, more futuristic - attack of the machines... Why the name VIRUS?The name of VIRUS, comes from the fine film VIRUS from the nineties." In the film, a ship is taken over by an alien vessel and the crew re-emerge as half-men, half-machines...

Even the craziest mods start with humble beginnings. In this case, it's a few strips of aluminium. This will serve as the main frame (geddit?) for the motherboard at the heart of the computer. The board shown is Micro-ATX, which will keep the computer down in size.

Half-man, half-computer - all modelling-clay. The 'face' of the computer will look like a cyborg and maritorena's dremel is put to good use here. He tells us that "The face of VIRUS is a wink to Terminator."

There are far too many steps to show here, but you need to get the gist. The arms will hold up the drives.

Here's a couple of shots of the project as it nears completion. The engineering and metalwork going on here is pretty incredible, and there's plenty more detail in the log itself. You can see how the machine is now becoming a gun-toting cyborg, and the design is pretty intricate.

Almost done, and the mod looks pretty spectacular. A webcam is integrated into the eye of the machine, and all its arms are attached, with the motherboard beating at the centre. Go and check out the full log!
